Spring Is Coming — Don’t Let It Surprise You
It's funny how we wait months and months and then spring has a way of arriving all at once. The snow melts, the yard reappears, and suddenly there’s a mental list of things you meant to get to.
This isn’t about doing everything or getting it perfect. We thought it might be helpful to give you some ideas for a few simple steps you can do now that can prevent bigger (and more expensive) issues later.
Start Outside While the Weather Cooperates
Even small check-ins outside can go a long way:
- Take a look at roof edges for any winter wear
- Clear gutters before the spring rains hit
- Walk the exterior and note paint or siding that may need attention
- Schedule sprinkler start-up before everyone else does-- not actually turn them on... just schedule it before everyone else tries to get it scheduled
- Trim back branches that touch the roof or gutters. Trim those annoying branches that hung down too low in the yard last year
Catching things early is usually easier — and cheaper — than waiting.
A Few Things to Tackle Inside
Inside, focus on the basics that help your home run smoothly:
- Schedule HVAC service before temperatures change
- Deep clean high-traffic areas that took a hit over winter
- Replace furnace filters
- Test smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and change those back-up batteries
- Take a look at storage areas that filled up during the colder months
You don’t need a full reset — just a little breathing room.
If Selling Might Be on the Table This Year
If there’s even a chance you’ll sell this year, these are the areas that matter most:
- Declutter storage rooms and closets first
- Take care of small repairs now, before they pile up
- Give curb appeal a little attention
- Avoid renovating without a plan — ask us first
A short walk-through now can help you avoid spending money in the wrong places later.
Plan Early — Without the Pressure
Spring doesn’t mean you have to make big decisions. It just means being thoughtful and prepared.
